Project Highlights

Star was approached to design a two-phase project for the Lorain Lighthouse Church in Lorain, Ohio. The church was in the process of combining two separate congregations into one individual unit. Phase I of the project was the construction of an Activity Center to serve as a combination Sanctuary and Gymnasium.

The 5,838 square foot facility was constructed using a pre-engineered steel building with Dura-Rib metal siding and standing seam metal roofing. A masonry fire wall was required between the existing church Sanctuary and Kitchen areas. Women’s and Men’s restrooms, including individual shower units, were included in the construction. A stage with movable platform, (2) storage areas and new entry access points also were added as part of the building. Borrowed lights were added to the upper structure to provide natural light.

A wood framed addition of 1,024 square feet was constructed to the existing out garage as part of this project. This space was to replace an existing storage building that was demolished during the site work for the new Activity Center.
